Canyoning (known as canyoneering in the U.S.) is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rappelling), and swimming. Canyoning (Canyoneering) and Climbing the Osmena Peak are two of the most memorable and adventurous adrenaline-pumping activities Cebu has to offer. Canyoning particularly in Kanlaob River of Alegria to Kawasan Falls of Badian has become popular among adventure seekers wanting to experience a new adventure after it was featured on a travel TV show “Biyahe ni Drew” hosted by actor Drew Arellano.
Kawasan Falls is a multi-layered fall located in Barangay Matutinao. The cold and clear water cascades through layers of waterfalls from Kabukalan Spring before going to Matutinao River and Tañon Strait. Matutinao River is awarded as the cleanest inland body of water in the country.
